Troubleshooting Steps:
1.Inspect the Spark Plug:
Remove and carefully inspect the spark plug for signs of wear or damage. Ensure that the gap between the spark plug electrodes aligns with the manufacturer’s specification. Replace it if necessary.2.Examine Air Filters and Carburetor:
Clean or replace any dirty air filters, as these can impede airflow and affect starting. Additionally, inspect the carburetor for any blockages that may be hindering fuel flow. Ensuring clear passages will optimize engine performance.3.Inspect Fuel filter:
A fuel filter can be clogged up due to old or bad fuel. The lack of proper fuel flow to the carburetor will prevent your mower from starting.
4.Look for Debris in the Mower Deck
Grass clippings can get clogged in the mower deck, which can prevent the blade from turning. If the starter rope seems stuck or is difficult to pull, it may be due to a clogged deck. Safely tip the mower onto its side and examine the underbelly.5.Evaluate Ignition System:
Test the ignition coil and other ignition components for proper functioning. you can use an ignition tester to determine if the ignition coil has failed and will need to be replaced.6.Check Flywheel Key:
The flywheel key aligns the flywheel in the correct position. If your mower had a violent stop, like hitting a large rock, the key might be sheared.7.Evaluate recoil starter
If the starter’s recoil spring is broken, the rope won’t be able to recoil onto the pulley, resulting in the engine not starting. Many recoil spring can be replaced individually, but if may be easier to replace the whole recoil starter assembly. We’d be happy to receive feedback on whether it works for you!
