Cause 1: The carburetor might be clogged
If you haven’t used your chainsaw for a long time and left fuel in it. Bad fuel won’t burn properly, and it will cause your carburetor become very sticky and clog, resulting the engine to stall or running rough. Try cleaning it with carburetor cleaner, if the cleaning job is effective, you should rebuild or just replace the carburetor. The fuel filter might be clogged if you leave old fuel in the chainsaw. Over time, sticky fuel can clog up the fuel filter and cause engine to run roughly.
